Top Picks from Fashion Week

We saw designers, such as Tommy Hilfiger and Christopher Kane, bring back crochet in their collections last year and designer crochet hit the runway again at Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Week! 70’s inspired tops, dresses and shawls were featured in crochet ensembles on the runway showing off the intricate detail and versatility of the craft. We’ve picked some of our favourite crochet pieces for you to enjoy and be inspired by as much as we were!

1. Moschino

Psychedelic colours, flower power and granny squares – the Moschino show had it all! We love the clash of colours in this collection which bring these bright and detailed crochet designs to life.

2. Balmain

Olivier Rousteing has done it again! Does he ever design a collection that doesn’t fill our collective hearts full of joy?! The sophisticated silhouettes, colour blocks and rainbow-hued crochet in his Spring/Summer collection are just fabulous!

3. Sabinna

Crochet inspiration at its finest! Sabinna is a knitwear and ready-to-wear label with a focus on hand crochet. This classy collection shows off the versatility of crochet which has been used to create pieces for everything from fun-loving day outfits to something more sophisticated for the evening.

4. Red Valentino

We love the casual, beach theme inspiration behind the Red Valentino Resort collection. Crochet has been a key trend for swimwear and cover ups for a few summers and we’re glad it’s here to stay!

5. Bora Aksu

The combination of pastels and bold brights with lace and intricate crochet embroidery is beautiful! A stunning collection with pops of colour perfect for Spring/Summer 2017.

Marc Jacobs Yarnspiration

We can’t leave out the crazy, stand-out rainbow hair at the Marc Jacobs show during New York Fashion Week. Blues, purples, greens – the endless rainbow shades formed the multi-coloured wool hair and of course we felt some (or lots of) yarnspiration!

Try your next crochet projects with these colourful yarns that resemble the models’ fun woolly hair:

Who would wear this junk! I went through the 1970’s and wouldn’t wear it then, let alone now! Most of them are the biggest waste of yarn I’ve ever seen! Not no but HELL NO!!

I have done a lot of searching on the net to find a tutorial teaching how to crochet right handed with out using your thumb. Can anyone here help me? Had surgery on hand in May thumb is still very painful with certain movements. Especially when holding yarn between thumb & forefinger when crocheting. Please & thanks.
