Top of the Flock: Favorite patterns from 2016

As the year comes to a close, I decided to choose a few of my favorite crochet patterns from members of The Flock. This year has seen some growing trends, from amigurumi to cowls, elves on shelves, and of course brochet! I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings…

Little Chick Bean Bag

I can imagine so many great uses for these little bean bags by Petals to Picots. Beanbag toss games and paperweights are obvious, but what about leaving the beans out, making a little trap door and using them to hold a hard-boiled egg? Or how about adding some little chicken legs? The possibilities are endless!

These Little Conkers ducklings look adorably realistic. I always wanted a duckling pet, but the idea of a full grown duck somehow wasn’t as appealing. Now I can have the duckling without the responsibility!

Snowflake cushion

I love this cushion from Little Doolally. Even though at this point I should be tired of snowflake patterns, something about this one is just so welcoming. Maybe it’s that beautiful Drops yarn? This seems like a simple pattern to get started on colorwork. Why not give it a try?

Messy bun plaid hat

Another recent trend, hats like this one from Whitle & Ivy leave a hole on top for buns or ponytails. An ingenious solution to a nagging problem. I’m partial to plaid, so this hat is an automatic favorite!

Don’t forget to follow out Flock members and  check out their wonderful blogs! Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and we’ll see you next year!
