We’re really excited to introduce – Projects by Makers

It was just over three years ago when Edward (Founder of LoveCrochet) had the idea to create a single place online where crocheters share their creativity, could post their projects, and buy their supplies. It’s been a little while in the making, but we’re delighted to say that place now exists!

We grabbed a coffee with Edward to hear more about the launch of Projects and why he wanted to build such an accessible community.

So Edward, why did you decide to build Projects?

My girlfriend is a dedicated knitter and so even before we started LoveKnitting I was aware of how much effort and skill went in to creating the pieces she made. Then when we began building the site, I would hear knitters and crocheters sharing their work and tips with one another and the need for a place to capture all of this creativity, plus make it easy to shop for the supplies, just seemed obvious to me. I’m now really delighted to say we’ve created a place where the wonderful skills of the makers can be celebrated and shared.

That sounds great, but how will it work?

The concept is simple: at LoveKnitting and LoveCrochet you will now be able to create ‘projects’. Each project can include images of what you made, plus information on what patterns you worked from and what tools and materials you needed. Makers will also be able to upload works-in-progress in order to keep track of current projects and seek support from other community members.

Thanks, Edward! If that all sounds easy, here’s how you get involved:

To join Projects, we need you to do two simple things:

  1. Create a Maker profile – the good news is, if you’re already a LoveKnitting or LoveCrochet customer then we’ll have already started one for you.
  2. Add some projects! Think of your Project area as your personal portfolio – a place to showcase your personal style, track what you’re working on and capture the evolution of your skills.
