LoveCrochet visits the Frank&Olive Luxury Crochet Retreat
We were so happy to start our brand new collaboration with the wonderful ladies at Frank&Olive and their Luxury Crochet Retreats in York, England. We were invited to visit the August ‘Glamping’ edition and we brought along our friend, Sincerely Louise. Let’s hand it over to Therese to fill us in on all the goss…
There were two very excited knitters meeting up at King’s Cross station to go to the retreat. Louise and I were heading for a weekend of glamping, socialising, crocheting and relaxing! Really, could there be anything better? We arrived at Deighton Lodge on the Friday afternoon and were shown to our glamorous tents. It was very much like a hotel room, except with fabric walls and a bit of a walk to the bathroom across a small field. I was already looking forward to go to bed!
We joined the rest of the attendees in the lounge and everyone threw themselves into crocheting! There were lots of yarn to choose from, including Rowan and Stylecraft and we all were taught to start new projects… there were blankets, slippers, ponchos, sweaters, decorations, you name it
There were about 15 ladies attending the retreat from all over! We only had one thing in common, we were there to crochet. And, that we did. We crocheted, tried new yarns, tried colour combinations, flicked through crochet books and chatted. We then had a lovely buffet dinner and ate quite quickly so we could get back to our crochet! We spent the whole evening tangled up in our new projects, laughing and chatting.
Louise became a complete and utter crochet addict!
It was a full moon when we decided to go to bed, we didn’t even need the torches to find our way to our tents. With the fairylights on it was very cosy and with a real bed it was both comfortable and the excitement of sleeping in a tent, I really must go glamping more often! We were served a delicious full English breakfast in the morning before reassembling in the lounge and continuing with our projects to discuss new colour combinations and admire each others projects. In the garden there were five little chicken who came in to join in the fun, unfortunately we had to shoo them out a few times.
There were lots of happy faces throughout the weekend!<
Our day continued with more crochet and relaxing and indulging in the craft. It didn’t stop at crocheting though, we were treated to a workshop by Louise to knit the panda hat and scarf pattern from Sincerely Louise‘s brand new collection which be made exclusively available on LoveKnitting tomorrow for a short period of time! Head to the LoveKnitting blog tomorrow to download these patterns yourself and enter a competition to win the Stylecraft yarn!! It was a lot of fun see the little pandas emerge from the needles, easy enough for beginners to complete the project in a couple of hours.
After the workshop I had to bid the rest goodbye and head back to London, but I’m pretty sure they continued both their knitting and crochet projects. Me, I kept crocheting on my granny blanket on the train home and I must say, I’m hooked on crochet, thanks Frank&Olive for having us!
Let’s finish off with a selfie!
