Crochet Girl Gang CAL
Back in the early spring, LoveCrochet put on a crochet workshop and invited a little collective of crochet ladies to go and share our skills. It’s where I met Emma Potter of Potter & Bloom, and drawn together through a love of bold colours and a clean graphic style, we kicked off the Crochet Girl Gang. (Emma P has taken the helm of CGG as she has a strong message of solidarity she wants to share – go check it out).
It was this sense of colour and design that got us all together with Paintbox Yarns. As a company that invites you to #pickyourpalette and have a great range of colours to choose from, they are the ideal partner for colour lovers like us. So when they asked if we’d be interested in working on a CAL, how could we say no?!
Emma and I got together and started thinking about a design. We wanted something contemporary that would share Emma’s love of the traditional granny, alongside my obsession with technical stitches. Something that would be perfect for newbies, but would also offer new skills and techniques to even the most hardened crochet geek. AND something that we could pick our own palettes for.
What we came up with is a bold, modern, yet classic blanket design, with 10 different elements for crocheters to get to grips with. As a CAL it should hold your hand at the beginning, and get you learning things you never knew you could do by the end. But hopefully, the joy of it will be, that you can pick and choose not only the elements that work for you but the colour palette that works for you too.
You may know that I have a bit of an obsession with finding colour palettes from nature, and this is no exception! Inspired by the turn of the season, I’ve chosen autumn colours that come from the rich variety of reds, golds and oranges of the falling leaves. Emma’s is a lovely contrast of summery, bright pastels in candy shades, and the Paintbox team have also been playing and come up with a gorgeous palette inspired by the hedgerows, of berry purples and vibrant greens.
We would love it if you joined us in our Crochet Along, the Crochet Girl Gang is ALL about the crochet community, so please do share your makes to #crochetgirlgang and #pickyourpalette so we can see them and share them with everyone else.
